B.E. Mechanical Engineering
M.E. CAD/CAM

The Mechanical Engineering course covers the requirements of a broad range of industries from manufacturing plant and transportation to power generation and domestic appliances. At CIT, apart from mainstream course curriculum, meritorious students can get involved in special projects from the second year onwards. Working on group projects, enables students to develop one of the most important aspects of mechanical engineering: teamwork.

We have well-equipped laboratories and workshops accommodated over an area of 600 sq.m. Lathe Workshop, CAD - CAM Lab, Metrology Lab, Metallurgy Lab, Heat Transfer Lab, Thermal Engineering Lab, Welding Shop, Instrumentation & Dynamics Lab and Fluid Mechanics & Machinery Lab, etc. complement the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Job Prospects

Mechanical engineers have a wide spectrum of employment such as machine manufacturing, machine tools manufacturing, automobile industries, power generation industries, boilers manufacturing, etc. The prospective employers are public limited company, MNC, state and central government organizations. In addition to this, the mechanical engineers find suitable place in software industries, Automation Industries and Mechatronics industries. Also they have wide skills in research and development activities in DRDO and other MNC?s in setting up their R&D(RLD) base in India.

Activities

Guest lectures are arranged with leading industrialists. The technology centre in the campus offers innovative technical knowledge. Training programmes are conducted to handle new machinery.
